PERIODONTAL (Gum) DISEASE
Periodontal disease is responsible for up to 70% of adult tooth loss. Usually painless until it reaches advanced stages, gum disease may not be detected unless you have regular dental check-ups. The process begins with a bacterial infection that attacks the gums, bone and ligaments that support the teeth and hold them in the jaw. Gum disease can be treated and prevented. An appropriate treatment plan can be made after a comprehensive dental exam and may include special toothbrushes, toothpastes, rinses, and eve prescription medications.
